Hemlock Tavern, 1131 Polk Street, San Francisco, CA. - ReCardiacs Fly returns, this time joined by Surplus 1980 at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco. And the mysterious PG13? They've been flying under the written radar but they are the power trio of Thomas Scandura (drums), John Shiurba (guitar) and Phillip Greenlief (sax).

Revolution Cafe,1610 7th St, Oakland, CA 94607. - The Light A Fire series returns! This will be the pilot show for a brand new curation--if we turn out, this series stands to provide a regular home for the local creative music scene. Come out and enjoy the weird and wonderful environs of Cafe Rev in Oakland (fully stocked with great food, coffee, a stage area, and copious seating...)--this month, we have (from lands out East) the great Luke Westbrook, new music from the Grex duo, and the spectacular Reconnaissance Fly!

Luna's Cafe, 1414 16th Street, Sacramento, CA. - Reconnaissance Fly is back hoping to get stuck in the Luna's Cafe guacamole once more. Phillip Greenlief & Jorrit Dykstra will play transcendent saxophones and Luke Westbrook will make guitar magic. Come and hear us with our new member, Chris Broderick for the first time!

SOMArts, 934 Brannan Street, San Francisco. - Third Strike: 100 Performances for The Hole is a one night only mini-marathon of 100 artistic moments. Each performance lasts just two minutes and takes place in, around, in contradiction of, or is inspired by “The Hole,” a 100-year-old mechanics pit in the floor of the SOMArts Main Gallery. I will be performing a two-minute set with collaborator Maw Shein Win and large cast of characters as "Kale and the Cosmos". It will be quite green.

The Starry Plough, 3101 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley, CA. - The members of Reconnaissance Fly and their pals are ready to cram themselves into a phone booth once again and burst forth all suited up and makeup-caked as ReCARDIACS Fly! Their set list has bloated up to more than twice its first-gig size! And they've lured the delicious Dominique Leone and the wacky Wiener Kids to share the bill with them in a joyously deranged art-pop spectacular!

Also performing: Equators, the experimental/improvisation project of guitarist Trevor Hacker; and David Douglas with drums and Max/MSP.
- August 4, 2011. Expressive Flow Exhibit - Featuring Patter Hellstrom. 5-7:30PM.
McLoughlin Gallery, 49 Geary Street, Suite 200, San Francisco. - Amar's improvised electronic music will serve as background for an art opening featuring Patter Hellstrom’s paintings on polypropylene. These abstract and brilliantly colored works recall Asian calligraphy traditions that inspire Hellstrom. Also on display will be Evan Wilson's paintings that envelop the audience in layers of symbols as he examines the urban landscape, various calligraphic traditions and the human experience. The music will respond to the work of these artists.
