i like the stark b/w treatment given to the picture.

Interesting place. I have no idea where the end of Elizabeth is in SF. Does traffic go underneath that bridge?

BTW, the balloon flower sculpture you saw on my WW post is in New York City by the former World Trade Center buildings.

Elizabeth Street goes through the Noe Valley section of San Francisco. It ends on the slope of Twin Peaks near the elevated section of Market Street. In fact this photo is not far from the location of last week’s WW photo.

The street ends there, and there is not actually any traffic underneath the bridge (as far I can tell there are no streets that cross underneath the Market Street elevated section, though there are pedestrian walkways).

Hmm, I wonder if Elizabeth st. was named after someone, or just a random name picked. Ponder…

Thanks for sharing. It make me want to explore. Happy WW!

Kind of an odd place. All the trappings of a city, but no people.

Strange to see houses above !

This has a quiet, out-of-time feel to it. And it seems the condos are sitting on the highway. Every level seems to exist on one plane–and not to.

LOL! Elizabeth must be up to no good. Stop her!

I love this kind of cityscape where houses are sprouting out of odd places.

Perfect in B&W — very evocative shot. What’s the story behind the street sign….

I like the lighting in this image of the end of the road. Happy WW!

  15. Daisy Says:

Good thing there is a stop sign so nobuddy runs off the road!

The end of Elizabeth. An interesting shot! I’m glad you had the note to click, because the “end” sign really did it for me.

I liked that hidden little detail, too, but BJ Roan’s comment is what really cracked me up. You did a good job of garnering some fun comments this week!

The location lends its self very well to stark Black and White as does the sign it’self, The end of Elizabeth and of colour ;)

O hai! I like to take walkies. I bet I would like to sniff stuff there.

Guess they figured that people would not know the street came to an ‘end’ hahahahaha
