This photo was taken during a recent visit to the Marin Headlands, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. This is a park and recreation area that is full of old World War II defense structures that are now in various states of disrepair. The ruins made for extremely inspiring photography.
I love seeing old building like this and try and think about what it was intended for when it was built and comparing it to what it is being used for today. You can find some great picture opportunities in places like this.
cool photo – I find old ww2 buildings ever so interesting – some of the places are quite eerie too but full of lots of photographic opportunities. Thankyou so much for visiting my place.
Thanks for posting where it’s located. I had no idea there was a place like that in San Francisco. I incorrectly assumed it was an international location.

This looks like a fun place to photograph. Before I read your comments, I thought it looked like a bunker.
Regarding the spiral staircase, it is inside the Mechanical Institute Library building in downtown SF.

I really like the layered effect the strong horizontal lines give the composition. Nice one.

I love the layers of graffiti.
Have you ever seen the old WWII structure in on the Delaware shore? They are very photogenic, and worth checking out on your next trip east.
