This is an interchange between the Yan’an Elevated Road and the North-South Elevated Road in central Shanghai. The “elevated roads” are highways that run through the interior of the city.
This was taken on a walk alongside the highway during my trip to China in June. I was going through the archives looking for something to post for today, and for some reason landed on this particular photo.
Yeah, what Sukhmandir said… like legos! Really great photo… you are one of my role models for learning to take photos… right now, all I can manage are pretty lakes and cats!
G’day, thanks for dropping by. Yes the runway was originally submerged. THere is an island in the middle and when full you just see the tip, now all you see is the whole island. This Pykes Creek has lost lots of water. Enjoy your day

It always amazes me how much weight and wear those columns can bear. A neat perspective!

Kind of scary but beautifull at the same time.

Nice shot. I like the way you got the skyline (or part of it) in the background and the nicely misty atmosphere. Happy WW!

Making highways look like art is sometimes hard, but you did so very well.

I love the look of that roadway. Nice shot!

It looks like nothing in that shot is older than 20 years! That’s China though.
Have you ever seen the mixing bowl on the DC Beltway? There are some really crazy flyovers there.

cool picture – I always think about cars falling off those high highways, not sure why though.

Wow-that’s really neat. I’ve always wanted to go to China! I agree with someone else who pasted a comment; they do look like a giant toy set!
