Others may celebrate the 40th anniversary of the moon landing as a triumph, but I choose to lament how we have never established a lunar base, let alone a place where ordinary people can visit. I was born after 1969 and grew up with optimistic predictions about space exploration. The reality has been sad and pathetic, and we should all be ashamed.
I don’t know, I think we’ve screwed up earth badly enough. Perhaps we’re not meant to establish a lasting presence anywhere else until we’ve learned to better handle the responsibility…
I used to watch a science fiction show “Space 1999″
that ran in the mid 1970′s! They lived on the moon in Space Station Alpha!
That is the closest we got to “living” on the moon.
Seems the interest in space exploration waned.
Too bad. It would be neat to see what is out there, or even what the earth looks like from the moon.
What a vacation destination that would be!!!!
did these Austronauts really went to the moon?…I just wonder because I watched a film last week about it but I forgot the title..wink!….nice photo though!
